New Year Sound Healing Gong Meditation

New Year- New You

New Year Sound healing Gong Meditation with the magic of Yoga Nidra guided by Tehila Woosley at Hikina Yoga was held on January 1st, 2017.

Gong Meditations create space for you to relax, rejuvenate and if you are willing, to explore deeper into the understandings of who you are.

Gong are useful in resolving emotional and physical dissonance. Magic happens when there is no separation between the gong, the player and the listener. Playing and listening to gongs is about spiritual, physical and emotional resolution – opening of doors and windows to the universe, moving around energies, universal energies – to enter a spiritual dimension. The gong is psycho-acoustic gateway to heightened states of awareness and consciousness. It is an ideal tool for stress reduction, stimulation of the glandular system, and to break up emotional blockages. Gongs stimulate and resonate all cells in the human body simultaneously and recalibrate the parasympathetic nervous system.

In india it is believed that the sound of the gong created the worlds, and was the primal sound of OM ( ॐ )

“The gong is the sound of creativity itself. One who plays the gong plays the universe.” Yogi bhajan

Rocket Vinyasa Yoga

The Rocket

What is the Rocket?

The Rocket is a series of yoga sequences developed by Larry Schultz, inspired by the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga system. It consists of three parts: Rocket I, Rocket II, and Rocket III. Each sequence includes a set of sun salutations, standing poses, and a modified version of the seated primary or intermediate series, followed by the traditional finishing sequence.

 Rocket I

Every rocket sequence is made up of 4 parts. Starting with traditional ashtanga suryanamskaras, the sequence moves onto a original standing sequence, full of standard standing poses as well as arm balances to build strength and protect joints. On the floor, yogis will recognize the sequence as being a modification of the seated primary series. The series finishes off with the traditional ashtanga finishing series.
 Rocket II

Building on the same standing series as Rocket I, Rocket II diverges when it comes to the seated series. Based on the back bending sequence of the seated intermediate series of ashtanga, this sequence complements the forward folds of Rocket I, laying the foundations of building a strong practice.
Rocket III

Designed as a way to finish off the week, this sequence is a combination of both Rocket I and Rocket II. Combining the twisted and folds into a dynamic sequence designed to build strength and flexibility.

Hikina Yoga collects rain water from it's roof and uses it to feed the studios collection of plants and grass lines in the parking lot.
Installed in the corner of the Hikina Yoga studio is a RainStation 45 gal. Terracotta Rain Barrel.
By putting this water to use before it flows to the ocean Hikina Yoga is able to help the city of Honolulu with their water conservation needs.  The rain barrel and gutters were installed by Hawaiian Style Gutters.
