Starship Yoga is the quintessential Hawaiian yoga studio. The adorable studio offers a delicious amalgamation of classes, including the iconic Rocket Yoga, invented by Larry Schultz, AKA the Grateful Dead’s personal yoga teacher. The style is a series of postures that utilizes that meditative flow-style of Ashtanga at a faster pace. Starship shares Larry’s philosophy, and are dedicated to making yoga as spiritual as an experience as it is physical. Go inward, get deep, and move your body.

Rocket Vinyasa Yoga
The Rocket is a series of yoga sequences developed by Larry Schultz, inspired by the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga system. It consists of three parts: Rocket I, Rocket II, and Rocket III. Each sequence includes a set of sun salutations, standing poses, and a modified version of the seated primary or intermediate series, followed by the traditional finishing sequence.
Every rocket sequence is made up of 4 parts. Starting with traditional ashtanga suryanamskaras, the sequence moves onto a original standing sequence, full of standard standing poses as well as arm balances to build strength and protect joints. On the floor, yogis will recognize the sequence as being a modification of the seated primary series. The series finishes off with the traditional ashtanga finishing series.
Building on the same standing series as Rocket I, Rocket II diverges when it comes to the seated series. Based on the back bending sequence of the seated intermediate series of ashtanga, this sequence complements the forward folds of Rocket I, laying the foundations of building a strong practice.

Designed as a way to finish off the week, this sequence is a combination of both Rocket I and Rocket II. Combining the twisted and folds into a dynamic sequence designed to build strength and flexibility.
