Tree Pose - Vrksasana: Asymmetrical standing balance yoga posture
How to do pose: From
mountain pose, weight is shifted to one leg, for example, starting with the left leg. The entire sole of the foot balancing on remains in contact with the ground.
The right knee is bent and the right foot placed on the left inner thigh, or in half lotus position.
With the toes of the right foot pointing directly down, the left foot, center of the pelvis, shoulders and head are all
vertically aligned. Hands over heart.
For a deeper challenge try to grow the tree by raising the hands high into the arm, gaping the hands and the fingers.
Tree Pose Benefits: Calms and focus the mind; Strengthens the areas of the ankles calves, and thighs; Opens groin and improves upper body posture; strengths areas of brain responsible for balancing.
