One Leg Folded Forward Bend - Triang Mukha Eka Pada Paschimottanasana Pose
One of the yoga poses that can help you stretch your hamstrings, hips and lower back is the One Leg Folded Forward Bend, or Triang Mukha Eka Pada Paschimottanasana in Sanskrit. This pose involves sitting on the floor with one leg extended and the other leg bent back, then folding forward over the extended leg. It can be challenging for beginners, but with practice and patience, you can reap the benefits of this pose.
Some of the benefits of the One Leg Folded Forward Bend are:
- It improves your flexibility and range of motion in your hamstrings, hips and lower back.
- It stimulates your digestive organs and helps relieve constipation and bloating.
- It calms your mind and reduces stress and anxiety.
- It balances your energy and harmonizes your left and right sides.
Here are some tips to perform the One Leg Folded Forward Bend safely and effectively:
- Start by sitting on the floor with both legs extended in front of you. Bend your right knee and bring your right heel to your right buttock. Keep your right foot flexed and your right shin parallel to the edge of your mat.
- Rotate your right thigh inward and press your right knee down. If you feel any discomfort in your right knee, place a folded blanket or a cushion under it for support.
- Inhale and lengthen your spine. Exhale and fold forward from your hips over your left leg. Reach your hands toward your left foot or ankle, or use a strap to hold onto your left foot.
- Keep your left leg straight and active, with your left foot flexed and pointing up. Avoid rounding your back or collapsing your chest. Instead, keep your spine long and your chest open as you fold deeper with each exhale.
- Hold the pose for 5 to 10 breaths, then inhale and lift your torso up. Switch sides and repeat the same steps with your left leg bent back and your right leg extended.

Yoga Meets Jack Kirby: A Trippy AI Animation
Have you ever wondered what yoga would look like in a cosmic dimension? Well, wonder no more, because we have the answer for you in this trippy video. Using Plazmapunk, a free AI video generator that listens to your audio and generates visuals that match the mood, style, and rhythm, we created a unique and psychedelic animation inspired by the legendary comic book artist Jack Kirby.
Jack Kirby was one of the most influential and prolific comic book artists of all time, known for his distinctive style of drawing cosmic landscapes, futuristic technology, and dynamic action. He co-created some of the most iconic characters in the Marvel universe, such as the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, the Avengers, and many more. He also created his own epic saga called The Fourth World, which featured the New Gods, Darkseid, and the Anti-Life Equation.
We wanted to pay homage to Kirby’s genius and creativity by using his style as a theme for our video. We chose an outdoor yoga class as our audio source and let Plazmapunk do its magic. Little Yogi Library

Here at Starship Yoga in Kapalama, Honolulu, Hawaii, we are thrilled to share our Little Yogi Library with you. This wonderful addition to our studio was created in partnership with the Little Free Library nonprofit system, which aims to promote literacy and community building through the free exchange of books.
Our Little Yogi Library is filled with books that promote mindfulness, wellness, and yoga for kids and adults alike. We believe that everyone deserves access to these resources, and we are proud to offer them in our community.
The Little Yogi Library is located outside of our studio and is available for anyone to use, whether or not you practice yoga at Starship. We welcome you to come by and take a book, leave a book, or simply browse the titles. It's a wonderful way to connect with others in the community and to share your love of reading and yoga with others.

Aloha, my fellow yogis! I have a tale to share that will transport you to the magical world of Wanderlust. At the Seattle festival in 2019, something truly amazing happened. As we flowed and moved together, MC Yogi and DJ Drez blessed us with an impromptu concert that was nothing short of epic. It was a moment that filled our hearts with the spirit of aloha and the joy of movement.
