Butterfly Pose - Baddha Konasana

Butterfly Pose - Baddha Konasana (BAH-dah cone-AHA-anna) Baddha meaning "bound', Kona meaning "angle", Asana meaning "pose.  The pose is a basic seated hip groin stretch, it is one of the best hip openers of yoga. 


HOW TO:
Starting in staff pose bend knees bringing feet close to groin.  Let the knees descent to the floor,  put block or blankets under the knee if you have trouble getting the knees close to the earth.  Breath deeply and fully into the posture hold for eight breathes to five minutes depending on type of practice.

Butterfly Pose - Baddha Konasana benefits are that it helps to stretch and strengthen the muscles of the groin.  The pose stimulates abdominal organs, ovaries, prostate gland and bladder.
